Programme Director – Strategic Technology - Outside IR35

Financial Services organisation requires a contract Programme Director. As Programme Director, you will lead one or more strategic technology programmes spanning multiple business units and geographies. You will operate at the heart of our transformation agenda, driving large-scale initiatives while fostering collaboration, transparency, and delivery excellence.

This is a highly visible leadership role offering exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to influence the long-term direction of our technology landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead complex, enterprise-wide technology programmes, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy and values
• Define, structure, and deliver major initiatives, including:
• Infrastructure and platform transformations (data centres, consolidation, exits)
• Cloud and hosting transformation programmes
• Platform migration, rehosting, and modernisation
• Technology operating model evolution
• Drive programme execution with a strong focus on scope, timelines, budget, risks, and value delivery
• Partner with senior stakeholders across Business, Technology, Finance, Risk, and Security
• Build and lead high-performing, cross-functional teams in a matrix environment
• Establish strong governance, planning, and reporting frameworks to ensure transparency and control
• Manage programme risks, dependencies, and financial performance
• Drive stakeholder alignment and consensus around programme vision and outcomes
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of programme management practices

Experience

• 10+ years of programme or project management experience
• Proven track record delivering large-scale technology or transformation programmes
• Experience with infrastructure transformation, cloud, platform migration, or similar initiatives
• Programme or project management certification is a plus
